There are thousands of
Breed Rescue Individuals and organizations in the United
States. Many work with their local animal control
shelters and humane societies to save as many purebred animal
lives as they can. Most of the people involved in these
types of endeavors are volunteers and are not listed in your
phone book as such.
Calcasieu Parish has cooperative programs established with
many of these types of groups. For more information
regarding a specific type of animal, you may be interested in
contacting the Animal Care Technician at Animal Services -
721-3730, your local veterinarian or run a "Search"
on the Internet for "Breed Rescue Organizations" and
branch out to specific listings as they show up on the search listings.
