RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERS' CODE OF ETHICS

Spay/Neuter their dog.
  

Train their dog.
  

Provide daily quality food, fresh water, adequate shelter, on-going veterinarian care including yearly inoculations and exercise.
  

Observe all state laws and local ordinances.
  

Obtain a pet rabies license tag and personal ID for each dog they own.
  

Keep their pet rabies license certificate with their important papers.
  

Keep their dog on a leash and prevent it from being a nuisance.
  

Keep animal premises sanitary.
  

Prevent their dog from biting or intimidating people.
  

Pick up and remove waste and place it in a proper receptacle.
  

Prevent pet pregnancy by properly securing their female inside the house or protected kennel when in season, if the dog is not spayed.
  

Consider the peace and quiet of their neighbors and do not allow their dog to bark or howl excessively.
  

Never treat an animal cruelly, inhumanely or cause it unnecessary pain or suffering.
  

When in transit, never transport a dog loose in an open pickup truck and always ensure the animal's safety.
  

Never subject an animal to extreme temperatures by leaving an animal in a vehicle unattended without adequate ventilation.
