OUR
VISION
We envision the day when all citizens, their
property and their neighborhoods will be safe from the
dangers and nuisances of irresponsible pet
ownership. We envision the day when animals will
not suffer because of human abuse, neglect or ignorance;
and that every pet born will be assured of a good home
and care all its natural life. |

OUR
MISSION
In keeping with our vision, our mission is to balance
the health, safety and welfare needs of people and
animals in Calcasieu Parish by:
* Protecting the rights of people from the dangers and
nuisances caused by uncontrolled animals.
* Ensuring the legal protection of animals from
mistreatment.
*Promoting, motivating and enforcing responsible pet
ownership. |

OUR
VALUES
* We value learning experiences and persuasion as
the best methods to achieve responsible pet ownership
and humane treatment of animals.
* We value the need of animals to be assured of a good
home for all of their natural life and to be free from
mistreatment and abuse.
* We value the efficacy of greater communication and
cooperation among neighbors, for achieving workable,
long-lasting solutions with government intercession.
* We value the ability and inclination of most people to
work together to create a quality environment for
themselves and animals, and to make proper choices when
they fully understand an issue.
* We value the right to live peacefully without suffering
from nuisances and dangers caused by irresponsible pet
owners.
* We value the importance of teaching self-protection
skills to Calcasieu Parish citizens, with special
attention devoted towards children who are more
vulnerable to severe dog attacks.
* We value continual striving for professional growth in
order for Calcasieu Parish to maintain its State &
local leadership in progressive, humane, efficient and
effective animal control services.
* We value every contact we make, whether in the field,
on the telephone, by letter or through the media, as an
opportunity to inform, educate and motivate people about
pet owner responsibility.
* We value the fact we must compete in the market place
to capture people's attention to motivate them to behave
responsibly in reaction to animals.
* We value and take pride in the vital services we render
to the community, though our responsibilities may be
difficult and often misunderstood.
* We value our responsibility to help develop a humane
ethic in Calcasieu Parish citizens, particularly in
children; and to be positive models of humane ethics
for the community at all times.
* We value the fact that persons vary in their level of
understanding, skills, and motivation to communicate and
cooperate with others, and to treat animals responsibly.
* We value the difference of beliefs about the place
animals have in our society.
* We value the need to respond with sensitivity to the
high emotions which accompany animals problems; and in
all cases we want to remain responsible, courteous, and
tactful in order to provide the highest quality of
service possible.
